What is Gemstone Astrology?
Vedic gemstone therapy is grounded in the principle that the nine grahas (planets) each resonate with a specific gemstone, a correspondence codified in texts such as the Garuda Purana and Brihat Samhita. The nine ratnas are: Ruby (Manikya) for the Sun, Pearl (Moti) for the Moon, Red Coral (Moonga) for Mars, Emerald (Panna) for Mercury, Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj) for Jupiter, Diamond (Heera) for Venus, Blue Sapphire (Neelam) for Saturn, Hessonite (Gomed) for Rahu, and Cat's Eye (Lehsunia) for Ketu.
A planetary gemstone selection is not made from your Moon sign or Sun sign alone. The ascendant (lagna), the planet's functional nature as benefic or malefic for that lagna, its house lordships, dasha period, and chart-level strength all matter. A stone that strengthens a benefic planet for one lagna can be harmful for another.
